These Terms apply to ALL electrical services we provide including full rewires, repairs, EICR testing & certification, EV charger installations, emergency works, maintenance, PAT testing, fault finding and any other electrical work.
1. Definitions
“We / Us / Our” – Cardiff Electricians Ltd (Company Number: 15419467).
“You / Your” – The customer named on the quotation or order.
“Services” – Any electrical installation, repair, testing, certification or associated works we supply.
“Consumer” – A private individual acting wholly or mainly outside any business or trade.
2. Our Contract with You
A binding contract is formed only when you accept our quotation in writing (email, text or “ACCEPTED”) and we confirm acceptance. These Terms and Conditions override any terms you may put forward. We will carry out the Services with reasonable care and skill in accordance with BS 7671:2018+A4:2026 and Part P of the Building Regulations.
3. Your 14-Day Cooling-Off Right
For contracts agreed away from our premises you have the statutory right to cancel within 14 calendar days under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. If you ask us to start work within the 14 days and later cancel, you will pay for all work already completed and materials ordered. Full cancellation instructions are supplied with every quotation.
4. Quotations & Prices
Prices are exclusive of VAT unless otherwise stated and are fixed for 60 days from the date of quotation. If you delay the start date or request changes, we reserve the right to adjust the price to reflect current material and labour costs. We may charge reasonable overtime rates if you require accelerated completion.
5. Payment Terms
• A 50% deposit is required on acceptance to secure your dates and order materials. This deposit is non-refundable once materials have been ordered or work has commenced.
• The balance is due in full on completion of the Services and handover of your certificate/invoice.
• Finance Options: We may offer finance options through third-party providers (including but not limited to TradeHelp, Kandoo, Klarna, or PayPal Pay in 3). Any finance agreement is solely between you and the finance provider. We act only as an introducer. Acceptance of finance is subject to the provider’s credit checks and terms. If your finance application is declined or cancelled, the full balance becomes immediately payable by you under our standard payment terms. We accept no liability for any decision made by the finance provider.
• Late payments will attract interest at 8% above the Bank of England base rate from the due date. We may suspend or cancel any remaining work and withhold test certificates until full payment is received.
6. Work on Site & Your Responsibilities
You must provide safe, unobstructed access to the property, a suitable electricity supply, and secure storage for our tools and materials. You remain responsible for the site’s health & safety compliance.
Asbestos & Unforeseen Hazards: You warrant that the property is free from asbestos or any other hazardous materials unless you have notified us in writing before work starts. If hazardous materials are discovered we may suspend works and charge reasonable additional costs or cancel the contract without liability.
7. Your Guarantees
• 10-year installation guarantee on all new wiring and fixings (where applicable).
• 1-year guarantee on fixtures and fittings.
• NICEIC Platinum Promise – 6-year, £25,000 insurance-backed guarantee.
Guarantees do not apply to customer-supplied materials, misuse, third-party damage or fair wear and tear. For EICR/testing work, reports are a snapshot in time only – we give no guarantee against future faults developing.
8. Making Good & Cleanliness
All chased walls will be filled to a roughcast smooth finish requiring attention prior to a paint-ready finish. We operate a clean-site policy and leave the property broom-clean at the end of each working day. Final decoration is your responsibility.
9. Your Statutory Rights (Consumer Rights Act 2015)
Our Services will be carried out with reasonable care and skill, within a reasonable time and at the agreed price. Nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts your statutory rights.
10. Our Liability
• We hold £5 million Public Liability Insurance.
• Our total liability for direct loss or damage shall not exceed the value of the contract or £100,000 (whichever is higher).
• We are not liable for any indirect or consequential losses (including loss of profit, business interruption or loss of use).
• We accept liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence (as required by law).
• For EICR and testing services, our liability is limited to the value of the report only.
11. Photography & Marketing Consent
We may take photographs of the completed work for our records and marketing purposes (anonymised where possible). You consent to this unless you notify us in writing before work begins.
12. Data Protection (UK GDPR)
We collect and process your personal data solely to deliver the Services, issue certificates and maintain our 5-year records. Full details are in our Privacy Policy (available on request).
13. Force Majeure
We will not be liable for any delay or failure to perform caused by events beyond our reasonable control (including material shortages, extreme weather, strikes or industrial action).
14. Sub-Contracting
We may sub-contract any part of the Services at our discretion.
15. Termination
We may terminate the contract immediately if you fail to pay any sum due, become insolvent or breach these Terms. You remain liable for all work completed and costs incurred up to the date of termination.
16. Disputes
Any dispute regarding the quality of the Services will first be referred to an independent expert appointed by the President of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). The expert’s written decision on matters of fact and opinion shall be final and binding.
17. General
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between us. English law applies. If any provision is found invalid, the remainder shall remain fully enforceable. You may not assign your rights under this contract without our written consent.
Thank you for choosing Cardiff Electricians Ltd.
We look forward to delivering safe, modern and reliable electrical services.
