Data deletion

This page explains how to ask Cardiff Electricians Ltd to delete the personal information we hold about you. It covers information we received through Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp, our website forms or live chat, phone calls and email. It forms part of our Privacy Policy.

How to ask us to delete your data

Use any one of these:

1. Email us at Hello@CardiffElectricians.com with the subject “Data deletion request”.
2. Message our Page on Facebook, Messenger or Instagram, or WhatsApp us on 07340 288647, and say “Please delete my data”.
3. Call us on 07340 288647.

Please tell us:

• your name, and the Facebook or Instagram account name or the phone number you used to contact us, so that we can find your messages;
• whether you want us to delete everything we hold or only certain messages; and
• an email address or phone number we can reply to.

We will not ask for your Meta password. To protect you, we may ask a simple question to confirm that the request is from you before we delete anything.

What we delete

• Messages, photos and attachments you sent us through Facebook, Messenger, Instagram or WhatsApp, and the copies of them in our email and enquiry records.
• Your name, username, Meta account or profile ID and phone number held for those conversations.
• Enquiry and contact details held for marketing or follow-up.
• Website form and live chat enquiries that did not lead to a job.

We will delete this within 30 days of confirming your request and then tell you it is done. If your request is complex we may take up to two further months, and if so we will tell you why within the first 30 days.

What we may have to keep

If we have done electrical work for you, some information has to be kept by law or by our electrical scheme rules. This can include:

• test certificates, inspection reports and installation records, usually for at least 5 years;
• quotes, invoices and payment records needed for our accounts and tax, for the period the law requires; and
• information needed to deal with a legal claim, insurance matter or complaint.

We will keep only what we need, will not use it for anything else, and will delete it when the period ends. We will tell you what we have had to keep and why.

Removing our access in your Facebook and Instagram settings

Our business messaging runs through an app connected to our Cardiff Electricians Facebook Page and Instagram account. You can also stop apps linked to your own Facebook or Instagram account yourself:

1. Facebook: open Settings & privacy > Settings > Apps and websites (also called Business integrations), find the app, select it and choose Remove. You can tick the option to delete posts or activity the app has made, if shown.
2. Instagram: open Settings > Website permissions > Apps and websites, then remove the app.
3. Messenger or WhatsApp: you can delete conversations from your own app. To block our business, open the chat, tap the business name and choose Block.

Removing an app or deleting a chat on your side does not delete the copy we hold, so please also send us a deletion request using the details above. Meta keeps its own copy under its own policies. You can ask Meta about that through Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp.
