Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 October 2026.
Cardiff Electricians Ltd is committed to protecting the privacy and personal data of our customers, suppliers and website visitors. This policy explains how we collect, use and protect your personal information in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. It covers our website, and the enquiries and jobs that reach us by phone, email, WhatsApp, Facebook, Messenger and Instagram.
Who we are
Cardiff Electricians Ltd (company number 15419467) is the data controller for the personal information described in this policy. Our address is 69 Wroughton Place, Cardiff, CF5 4AB. You can contact us by email at Hello@CardiffElectricians.com or by phone or WhatsApp on 07340 288647.
What personal data we collect and how
We collect personal data when you contact us or ask us to do work. This can happen through:
- our website enquiry and quote forms, and the website chat;
- phone calls and voicemails;
- email;
- WhatsApp;
- Facebook, Facebook Messenger and Instagram messages, comments and reviews; and
- the job records we create when we quote for, carry out and invoice electrical work.
We may collect and process the following information:
- your name, address, telephone number and email address;
- property details and access arrangements;
- a description of the electrical problem or work you need, and any photographs or files you send us;
- job history and electrical installation records;
- payment and bank details, where necessary for invoicing;
- photographs of completed work (with your consent where you can be identified); and
- basic information about how you use our website, as described in the “Website, cookies and analytics” section below.
How we use your data
We use your personal data for the following purposes:
- to respond to your enquiry and to provide electrical installation, testing and maintenance services;
- to communicate with you about your job, appointments and invoices;
- to maintain records as required by law and by our electrical scheme (a minimum of 5 years for electrical work);
- to follow up on a job, including asking you for feedback or a review;
- to improve our services and train our team; and
- for marketing, only with your consent.
Legal basis for processing
We process your data on the basis of contract performance (including taking steps at your request before a contract, such as giving a quote), legal obligations (for example health and safety and building regulations records), and our legitimate interests in running our business, answering enquiries, keeping records and improving our service. Where we rely on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time.
Data sharing
We do not sell your data. We may share limited information with trusted third parties such as payment processors, insurance providers, our electrical scheme provider and other regulatory bodies where legally required, and with the service providers that supply the email, messaging, website and business software we use to run our business. These providers handle your information only on our instructions, and all third parties are required to protect your data appropriately. Some of them may store data outside the UK. Where they do, we expect them to use approved safeguards.
Data security and retention
We take appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss or destruction. Electrical work records, test certificates and reports are kept for a minimum of 5 years in line with our scheme requirements and building regulations. We keep invoices and accounting records for as long as the law requires. Other personal data is kept only as long as necessary for the purposes set out above. Enquiries that do not lead to any work are kept for up to 12 months and then deleted.
Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp
You can contact us through our Facebook Page, Facebook Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp. These services are run by Meta (Meta Platforms Ireland Limited for people in the UK and Europe), not by us. This section explains what we do with the information we receive when you get in touch with us through them. It applies to messages and enquiries sent to our Cardiff Electricians accounts, and to any comments, reviews or reactions you make on our Page or posts.
What information we receive
- Your name or username and the profile or account ID that Meta gives us for your account. We do not receive your Meta password.
- The messages, photos, files and other attachments you send us, and the date and time you sent them.
- For WhatsApp, the phone number you are messaging from and your WhatsApp profile name.
- Any details you choose to give us in a conversation, such as your address, a description of the electrical problem, preferred times and your email address or phone number.
- Public comments, reviews and reactions you make on our Facebook Page or Instagram posts.
We only receive what Meta passes to us from conversations with our business accounts. We do not see your private profile, your friends list or your messages with other people.
How and why we use it
- To read and answer your enquiry and to arrange a call, visit or quote.
- To book, carry out and invoice electrical work, and to keep the records of that work.
- To follow up on a job, including asking you for feedback or a review.
- To keep a record of what was agreed with you, and to deal with any complaint or query later.
- To keep our accounts secure and to prevent spam and misuse.
Messages that arrive through these channels may be copied to our business email and into the system we use to manage enquiries and jobs, so that our team can see and act on them. We do not sell your information.
Who we share it with
Meta provides the messaging platforms, so Meta processes your messages as part of delivering those services and has its own privacy policy, which applies to what Meta does with your information. For WhatsApp Business, Meta also acts on our behalf to carry and deliver messages. We may also share information where the law requires it, with our insurers or with our regulator or scheme provider where necessary, as described under “Data sharing” above.
Meta’s own policies are here:
Removing our access from your Meta account
You can stop our business from receiving information from your Meta accounts and delete messages in your own account at any time through your Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp settings. Deleting a message on your side does not delete our copy, so please also use our Data deletion page.
Website, cookies and analytics
This website uses Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics 4, Google Site Kit and Microsoft Clarity to measure how many people visit, which pages they use and how they move around the site, so that we can improve it. These tools use cookies and similar technologies, and they may record information such as your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you view and how you interact with them. We also show customer reviews on the site through a review widget (Trustindex), which may set its own cookies.
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings, and you can block or remove them at any time. Blocking cookies may affect how some parts of the website work. Embedded content from other websites, such as maps, behaves as if you had visited that website, and those sites may collect data about you under their own privacy policies.
Your rights and how to complain
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict processing, data portability, and to object to processing. You can ask us to stop any marketing at any time. To use any of these rights, email Hello@CardiffElectricians.com, message our Page, or call 07340 288647. We will reply within one month.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Deleting your data
To ask us to delete the personal information we hold about you, including messages received through Facebook, Messenger, Instagram or WhatsApp, see our Data deletion page.
